If you have North Carolina ancestors, this is an interview you won’t want to miss.
While attending the National Genealogical Society Conference, I sat down with David McCorkle, President of the North Carolina Genealogical Society, to talk about the upcoming NCGS Fall Conference in Raleigh, North Carolina, as well as some of the best resources available for North Carolina genealogy research.
In this conversation, David shares:
• Details about the North Carolina Genealogical Society Fall Conference (September 18–19, 2026)
• In-person and virtual attendance options
• Featured speaker Judy Russell, The Legal Genealogist
• The workshops, lectures, and special research tracks planned for the conference
• North Carolina migration routes and settlement patterns
• Why the North Carolina State Archives should be on every researcher’s radar
• The story behind the NC Land Grants project and its massive collection of searchable records
• Resources available through the North Carolina Genealogical Society
• Volunteer opportunities and ways to support genealogy education
Whether you’re just getting started with North Carolina research or you’ve been working on your family tree for years, you’ll find valuable insights, research tips, and resources that can help you break through brick walls and better understand your ancestors’ lives.
